Henry Callahan, a Georgia native, received his degree in Visual Design and Painting from Auburn University. After college, he worked as a graphic designer and marketing professional in New York. He spent his free hours in the city’s museums and galleries as he studied the works of master Abstract Expressionist and Impressionist painters. Finally he left New York to travel throughout Europe and Northern Africa. His painting techniques and philosophy evolved during that period.
In 1984, Callahan founded and was President of Callahan & Company, a marketing communications firm in Baltimore, MD. In 2000, he moved to Florida as Director of Client Services for Tambourine, a prominent digital marketing firm in Fort Lauderdale. The company required extensive travel which was usually to the Caribbean destinations and luxury resorts he serviced in the US and UK markets. His travels became inspiration for his paintings, using the colors and patterns in the cities and landscapes he visited. In 2012, Callahan returned to Georgia to devote his full time to his first love—painting.
